Child Care on Sundays

Child care is provided in the Children’s Center upstairs on the first floor of the Rectory by experienced and trained care givers. Go through Satterlee Hall at the Lych Gate entrance to the main stairwell. At the top of the stairs turn right. There is a “baby” room and a toddler room for children up to three years old. The hours are 9 am–1 pm. There are paging devices you may use. Parents are welcome to pick up their children and bring them to the Church to receive the Eucharist or a blessing.

Children’s Chapel

The liturgy of the Episcopal Church is active and participatory. In Children’s Chapel, our younger worshippers experience worship at their pace and in their language, through story, prayer and singing. Parents share in the leadership of the service. Children’s Chapel is held every Sunday in Nourse Hall, running concurrently with the lessons, sermon and prayers of the 9:15 service. The children join in the Eucharist at the Peace. All children are welcome; a parent usually remains with children under age three.

Children’s Formation

Children from pre-school through 6th grade meet Sundays during the school year from 10:30–11:45 in their different levels of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Formation Program. Our version of this program is based on scripture and the liturgy of the Episcopal Church and uses the Montessori Method of learning. The program provides an environment for children to mature spiritually and live into their baptismal covenant. It is a joint effort of children, parents, catechists, and staff.

VBC is a fun and faith-filled summer program for children ages 4-5 and 6–9. There are two separate camps, one in July and the other in August. We explore Biblical themes in an interactive environment that includes music, drama, worship, crafts, games, food and singing. There are many opportunities for adults and youth leaders over 10 to participate. To register, volunteer or ask questions for upcoming VBC, call the Reverend Harriette Sturges. (Photos)

On Wednesday, July 14th, the Parish is invited to join the children of Vacation Bible Camp for the first and perhaps only Rambunctious  Raptor Rap Session in DC.

The North Carolina Raptor Center will be bringing live owls, hawks and other birds of prey they have rescued to St. Alban’s to give us a close look at this part of God’s Kingdom.    Come enjoy this gift of joy and wonder of God’s world.  Two afternoon shows--all ages.  Times to be announced.
