Stewardship at St. Alban’s

St. Alban’s conducts a stewardship campaign each fall, but the need for faithful and committed financial support knows no season. We are blessed with a church and other buildings to care for and a mission to be God’s hands and voice. Being God’s people and accepting these blessings, we are called to respond with every aspect of our lives: our faith, time, energy, passion, skills—and our money. We are asked to examine what proportion—percentage—of our money truly reflects God’s grace in our lives. We encourage a commitment to proportional giving for all who make St. Alban’s their spiritual home.

Formal pledges enable parish leaders to make responsible decisions about the operating budget and the extent to which the church can fund critical ministries. Nearly 90% of St. Alban’s annual operating budget is funded by pledges. Unlike many large urban churches, we do not have a large endowment to carry the financial burden. If you would like more information about how St. Alban’s receives or spends money, we welcome you to speak with a Vestry warden or other Vestry member.

Pledges are welcome at any time during the year, and you will find pledge materials in the narthex.

Phoebe Nourse Society

The Phoebe Nourse Society was created in 1996 to honor the act of giving to St. Alban’s so that our Parish mission and ministry will go forward. The Society’s purpose is to encourage, support and celebrate the giving of planned gifts or gifts made to the St. Alban’s Endowment Fund. The Society draws its inspiration from the young woman for whom it is named. Phoebe Nourse’s legacy of forty gold pieces to start a fund for “a free church on Mt. Alban” laid the path for future generations in this place. All are invited to follow that path by becoming a member of the Phoebe Nourse Society through remembering St. Alban’s in your will or estate plans, or by making a gift outright to the St. Alban’s Endowment Fund.
