Baptism represents the beginning of our life as Christians, when we are “sealed as Christ’s own forever.” Baptisms are scheduled five times each year at our regular Sunday services.
Parents of infants and children to be baptized should make an appointment with the Reverend Harriette Sturges (202-363-8286) to discuss baptism and the intent. Parents and godparents also attend a preparation course offered by our Catechumenal Group. The course and rehearsal is held on the Saturday morning prior to baptism from 9:30 am–12 pm.
Adult candidates should schedule a meeting with one of the members of St. Alban’s clergy to discuss their intent for baptism and attend our Adult Catechesis classes held on Sunday mornings.

The next Confirmation service, for adults and youth, will be held at the Washington National Cathedral on Saturday, May 17, 2008.
In Confirmation, we make a mature commitment to Christ. Courses of preparation, known as the Alban Course (Adult Catechesis) are held on Sunday mornings for adults interested in Adult Confirmation, Reception and Reaffirmation. These classes provide careful exploration of Christian faith and practice. There is also a Confirmation retreat the Saturday prior to the service (May 10, 2008).

Youth at St. Alban’s are prepared for confirmation in the context of the Journey to Adulthood class and through other special gatherings. Confirmation is offered to youth in grades 11 and above. The decision to be confirmed is made by each individual and reflects their own experience of God’s grace and their commitment to the Christian faith. For additional information, contact Erin Hensley, Assistant to the Rector for Youth & Young Adult Ministries 202-363-8286 x207, erinh@st-albans-parish.org.
Clergy help parishioners who wish to discuss arrangements for their own services or services for their loved ones. It is best to make arrangements for a funeral or a memorial service with a member of the Clergy as soon as the death occurs. The Clergy may be reached by calling 202-363-8286. After hours, an emergency number is given by the automated answering system.

St. Alban’s celebrates the sacrament of marriage for members as well as for potential members of the parish, and for those who are children of members. Potential members are people who will live in the DC area and are in the process of becoming a member of St. Alban’s. The first step to planning your wedding at St. Alban’s is to read the information found in the booklet “The Celebration and Blessing of Marriage at St. Alban’s” (pdf file). In addition, the forms contained within the booklet are available as interactive PDFs:

As part of our ministry of healing, we offer prayers for the sick and laying-on-of-hands. The laying-on-of-hands for healing allows people to pray for specific concerns and to offer thanksgivings.
Holy Communion is always available for parishioners who cannot attend services. Clergy, and parishioners commissioned to offer Communion, take the Eucharist to the sick, dying and homebound of the Parish.
